Run for Her Life

I am sure you all know I lost my BEAUTIFUL MOM to Ovarian Cancer almost 4 years ago. I have longed to find something I could participate in for Ovarian Cancer and I am so excited that we found this race. It is next weekend September 19th at Sugarhouse Park. I am begging everyone to come join in the fun. There is a 3 mile run/walk and an 1.5 mile walk, it only costs $20 and it goes to an amazing cause. I know EVERYONE can walk 1.5 miles and most people can come up with $20, please come join in the fun. You know I will be there!

Catching Up

I know I haven't posted FOREVER and the sad thing is I have had things to post about, but we are changing our accounting program at work, which means 80% of the work I have done between 8 -5 Monday through Friday since December 1st I have to do again, so my days and nights are PACKED. Plus believe it or not, I don’t have the internet at home. I know you are probably gasping right now, but since Tim and I work fulltime in front of computers that do there isn’t a need. But that is why I haven’t posted at home. That being said here are my updates.

First – Sleep Update! We have come to a resolution and I am happy. After about a week of putting Noah to bed in his bed then picking him up off the floor after he fell asleep I made him a bed on the floor. I know it sounds silly, but I figured it’s not hurting him to sleep on the floor and he goes to bed as happy as can be and SLEEPS THROUGH THE NIGHT! I wish I would have known this months ago.

Second – It was Noah’s 2nd b-day on 2/24. We had a Dora / Diego party. Here are some pictures. Enjoy.

Third – I ran my half marathon March 8th. My goal was to finish it in less than 2 hours and 30 minutes. I just beat that time at 2 hours and 25 minutes. I was a little disappointed with my time, but I am ok now because it was my long race and I hurt my IT band and miles 6 – 13 were painful to run. (I ran last night again, first time since the race, and it started hurting after the first mileL). I was happy to completion something so big.

I hope to post more often, but I do have a couple more weeks of being REALLY busy so I will post as soon as I can.

I hate lossing :(

So the challenge is over and unfortunately I finished in 3rd place. I was hoping for 2nd because Robyn is training for a Marathon so I didn't expect to pass her, but Patti pushed hard and won it. But it was great to push myself so hard. Here are the scores:

Patti 139.82
Robyn 129.92
Collette 114.90
Allison 79.22

So I averaged 28.72 miles a week and about 4.78 miles a day because I would always take Sundays off. So I am happy, the two things this challenge did for me was make me run more and run longer than I normally would. I always made my Saturday runs around 6 miles.

So that brings me to my next challenge. A lady in my ward that workouts in the mornings when I do is getting a group together to do a relay race. www.wasatchbackrelay.com It goes from Logan to Park City. It is a 24 hour relay that a group of 12 run together. Everyone has to run 3 legs and depending on how hard the run is depends on the length of the run. I think it sounds like a blast, but then again does it really???? Thoughts?

For all the Runners

For Christmas Tim bought me a Nike+ for my Nano. If you don't know what that is, it is a little attachment that hooks to your Nano and then the sensor goes on your shoe and it tracks your distance, time, pace and calories as you run. I love it! No matter where you go running you can track your runs and then you can download it to Nike's website and track your progress. There are a few ladies at work with one and we are all trying to get into shape for summer so I went on the Nike website and challenged them to see who could run the most miles in 30 days. I am about 15 years younger than all of them so I wasn't worried about winning the challenge, however, after I had to run 30 miles the first week just to keep up I knew I had my work cut out for me. We are about to end week three and I am in second place with 68 miles (I need to up my game). However, I know that I get obsessed when I get up at 5:30 and run 4 miles then can't wait until I get home so I can take Noah on a 3 mile walk just to try to keep up. The challenge has definitely succeeded in getting me into shape. I will let you know what place I come in at and the number of miles I run. Right now I need encouragement because this morning the last thing I wanted to go was get on the treadmill.
